The book was like a breeze of fresh air. I could, personally, relate to so many stories and the ease of reading was the major plus. This means, I would be recommending the book to many beginners & those struggling with āwhat to readā. This book would definitely get you back on track.
The first story about Amina was captivating & gives a great social message. Although I've never been to Kolkata, I really enjoyed reading about the Pandal hopping. Making a mental note to visit Kolkata especially to tick off Pandal-hopping from my bucket list. The emotions we all experienced during the pandemic and accompanying shutdown were accurately described in some accounts. The situations in the stories are certain to strike a chord with the majority of readers of all ages.
The author's skillful pen has woven fragments of ordinary everyday life into the remarkable story in clear and understandable language. Each narrative has highlighted many layers of emotion, such as young people's hopes, expectations, conundrums, or despair. Surely awaiting more books from Barnali.

Pebbles in the sand managed to captivate even my 13 yr old who is normally, a reluctant reader of books. I personally feel that this book should be recommended for reading in middle and high schools for its lucid style of writing and vivid storytelling. The stories in this book will appeal to teenagers and adults alike.
I heartily recommend buying this book not only for its heartwarming and well-written stories, but also for its attractive price and its small and light format resembling a kindle device that can easily be carried along.
Just finished reading Barnali Roy's first published book which is a collection of short stories named Pebbles In The Sand. Was lucky enough to get the author's signed copy.
Her writing is so heartfelt and the stories are so relatable. She captures the emotions so well and pens down the thoughts and creates a magical canvas of words.
Considering it's her debut book I loved all the stories, but if I have to pick the best one it would be 'Abandon'. I too got back to my dancing during lockdown, drawing inspiration from nature, in this story it is a kite. But there are really certain moments, pauses which can create a life changing impact. The other stories like ' And She Smiled Again' and 'Towards Darkenss' are also very good.
This book is an easy read and can be enjoyed by all age groups. You can read it while travelling too as it is very compact in size but believe me it will create a big impact on the readers mind.
